Help a Child
In June of 2019, we made some changes to the New Hope Child Sponsorship program. All sponsorship donations will now go into a pool to help any and all children in need at New Hope School, rather than one sponsor being paired with one specific child. Before, a donor would give $150 to sponsor a child, while other children would go without help, waiting for a sponsor. Now, children receive the exact amount of help they need, so that we can help more children in need. Some families require a full sponsorship, while some just need a little help here and there. Now, New Hope School can best meet the specific needs that arises, for every child.
Primarily, donations to the sponsorship program go to providing school fees and meals to children at New Hope School. When necessary, New Hope Fund also provides uniforms, glasses, medical care or other necessities to children in need.
Every month, donors in the child sponsorship program will receive an email with a newsletter, spotlighting one child in the sponsorship program. The newsletter will give insight on the child's life, family, living conditions and need for help.
On the Kenya side, Sarah Olonde will sit down with any parent or caregiver and decide how much he or she is able to pay. Then, regardless of what the actual school fees are, the new set amount will be what the parent is expected to pay. This allows parents to stay invested in their child’s education, while having an affordable goal to work towards.
The starting amount to participate in the New Hope Child Sponsorship Program is $150. This is the amount that it costs to pay for a full year of education and meals for one student at New Hope Preparatory School. Donors that feel like giving more than the $150 amount are welcomed and appreciated.
